Ryan Tilby is an in-demand multi-instrumentalist both on stage and in the studio. A Utah state champion on banjo, mandolin, and guitar, he grew up touring professionally in the bluegrass music scene. He went on to study jazz guitar at Utah State University, and traveled the world with Capitol Records artist Ryan Shupe & the RubberBand, and released several records of his own on the Stone Angel Music label. After years as a studio musician on the Wasatch Front, he and his wife moved to southwestern Utah in 2014 to engineer and manage Spiral Recording Studios, and to raise their three children in the beauty of the Utah desert.
I am squarely in the "teach a man to fish" camp of music education—I feel strongly that basic concepts, laid out in the right order with concise and practical explanations/applications, will guide the new musician into a position of self-sufficiency and independent study with all the tools required to enjoy the experience of learning music.
