Josh Larsen is an up-and-coming composer, arranger, and producer. His music features cutting-edge sound design combined with contemporary orchestration techniques. With over 15 years of experience performing in orchestras, rock bands, and jazz ensembles, Josh is well versed in several styles.
As a bassist, Josh performs with the Orchestra at Temple Square and with the Ryan Shupe and the Rubber Band, a high energy blue grass, rock hybrid band. He has performed with artists such as The Strike, David Archuleta, Journey, Lindsey Sterling, Macy Gray and many others.
As a composer he has won multiple awards including UVU’s film festival best original score. He was also chosen to write music for UVU’s “Imagine” campaign. Josh is also an aspiring film composer and has already composed for several student films.
I teach my students what they need to know to be a professional bassist. This can include anything from music theory to recording software and songwriting. Ultimately students are in charge of what they want to learn and together I help them make a plan to accomplish their own goals.
