Drummer and composer Andrew Wangemann is a graduate of The Juilliard School (B.M. and M.M. in Jazz Studies: Drums). He recently released a CD, Baby Babble, which features many of his unique compositions and arrangements of folk tunes. Andrew received the 2016 Chuckii Booker Scholarship, an award from the BMI Foundation that recognizes excellence in jazz performance and composition.
I believe that something can be learned from any style of music. I like to find out what music my students listen to and use that material to help them understand the fundamentals of music. Additionally, I think it important to challenge students by introducing them to musical styles and concepts outside of their comfort zone.
